Special Day in San Juan, Metro Manila every 30th of August (Proclamation No. 164, s. 1999)



PROCLAMATION NO. 164

DECLARING AUGUST 30, 1999 AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF SAN JUAN, METRO MANILA

August 30, 1999 marks the 103rd Anniversary of the Battle of El Polvorin, otherwise known as the Battle of Pinaglabanan, where the Philippine Revolutionaries, led by its Supremo, Andres Bonifacio and Sancho Valenzuela, together with 90 brave sons of San Juan and Mandaluyong sacrificed their lives to capture the Spanish Garrison of El Polvorin and secure guns and ammunitions for the Philippine Revolutionaries.

This epic Battle of Pinaglabanan played an important role in the revolutionary activities in Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Pampanga, Bulacan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija.
