AN ACT DECLARING AUGUST THIRTY A SPECIAL NON-WORKING HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCE OF BULACAN

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. August Thirty of every year is hereby declared a special non-working holiday in the Province of Bulacan to commemorate the birth anniversary of Marcelo H. del Pilar.

SEC2. This Act shall take effect upon its publication in at least two (2) newspapers of general circulation.

August 30, 1999 marks the 103rd Anniversary of the Battle of El Polvorin, otherwise known as the Battle of Pinaglabanan, where the Philippine Revolutionaries, led by its Supremo, Andres Bonifacio and Sancho Valenzuela, together with 90 brave sons of San Juan and Mandaluyong sacrificed their lives to capture the Spanish Garrison of El Polvorin and secure guns and ammunitions for the Philippine Revolutionaries.

This epic Battle of Pinaglabanan played an important role in the revolutionary activities in Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Pampanga, Bulacan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija.

Regular Holiday Throughout The Country on August 21, 2018 in observance of Eid'l Adha (Proclamation No. 556, S. 2018)

Proclamation No. 556 declaring Tuesday, 21 August 2018, a regular holiday throughout the Country in observance of Eid'l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice).

Eid'l Adha or Feast of Sacrifice is one of the two greatest feasts of Islam.

Republic Act No. 9849 provides that Eid'l Adha shall be observed as a regular holiday.

The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has recommended that 21 August 2018 be declared a national holiday, in observance of Eid'l Adha.

Previously, Proclamation No. 269, August 21, 2018 was declared special (non-working) day as Ninoy Aquino Day.

Special (Non-Working) Day in Naga City on August 18, 2018 (Proclamation No. 553, S. 2018)

Proclamation No. 553 declaring Saturday, 18 August 2018, as a Special (Non-Working) Day in the City of Naga, Province of Camarines Sur marks as Jesse Robredo Day.

Jesse M. Robredo, who was appointed Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and a champion of good governance, was instrument in the implementation of far-reaching reforms in local governance.

Secretary Robredo served with utmost dedication as Mayor of Naga City from 1988 to 1998 and from 2001 to 2010.

His outstanding performance as Mayor of Naga City earned him numerous awards such as the Magsaysay Award for Government Service in 2000, the first Filipino Mayor to be conferred such distinction.

Secretary Robredo, considered one of the local heroes of Naga City, passed away in a tragic plane accident on 18 August 2012.

His many virtues as a public servant have permanently earned him the gratitude of the City he led, and the Republic he served.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10669

AN ACT DECLARING AUGUST 18 OF EVERY YEAR AS "JESSE ROBREDO DAY" A SPECIAL WORKING HOLIDAY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. Title. - This Act shall be known as "Jesse Robredo Day".

Section 2. Special Working Holiday. - August 18 of every year is hereby declared as "Jesse Robredo Day", which shall be a special working holiday, to be celebrated in all elementary and secondary schools in the country. In the event that the holiday falls on a weekend, the holiday shall be observed on the Friday of that week.

Section 3. Implementing Agency. - The Department of Education shall plan and implement activities for the "Jesse Robredo Day", and ensure that Jesse Robredo's legacy of good governance and leadership is given emphasis to encourage students to continue the same for the good of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

Section 4. Separability Clause. - If any provision of this Act is declared unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity and effectivity of the other provisions hereof.

Section 5. Repealing Clause. - All laws, decrees, orders and issuances or portions thereof which are inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed, amended or modified accordingly.

Section 6. Effectivity. - This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days following its publication in at least two (2) national newspapers of general circulation.
