"Araw ng Dabaw" is a Special Working Holiday in Davao City every 1st of March (Republic Act No. 11379)

AN ACT DECLARING MARCH 1 OF EVERY YEAR A SPECIAL WORKING HOLIDAY IN THE CITY OF DAVAO TO BE KNOWN AS "ARAW NG DABAW", REPEALING FOR THE PURPOSE REPUBLIC ACTS NUMBERED 7551 AND 7685


Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representative of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. March 1 of every year is hereby declared a special working holiday in the City of Davao, Province of Davao del Sur, to be known as "Araw ng Dabaw", in commemoration of its founding anniversary. Upon proclamation of the President, March 1 of every year shall be a special nonworking holiday in the City of Davao, Province of Davao del Sur.

SEC. 2. On March 1 of every year, the officials of Davao City shall lead appropriate and meaningful celebrations and activities that shall give significance and meaning to the aspirations of the city;s founding fathers, and its glorious history and contributions to national development. They shall be participated in by officials and employees of the national and local government units, agencies and instrumentalities, civic, religious, nongovernment organizations, private companies and other interested parties.

SEC. 3. Republic Act No. 7551, entitled "An Act Declaring March 16 of Every Year as Araw ng Dabao, a Special Nonworking Public Holiday in Davao City" and Republic Act No. 7685, entitled "An Act Declaring March 16 of Every Year a Special Nonworking Public Holiday in the City of Davao, to be known as "Araw ng Dabaw", are hereby repealed.

SEC. 4. Effectivity. - This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
